Our 55-Year Saskatchewan Legacy

Our office has served western Saskatchewan as a full-service real estate appraisal firm since 1971 (55 years). Founded by Howard Mattila, AACI, P.App, P.Ag (retired) in 1971, our practice began in North Battleford and expanded across the province, including acquiring Northwest Properties in Meadow Lake in the 2000s.

Howard acted as a dedicated mentor to several appraisers, including David Fortier, AACI, P.App, Bcomm (Dist.) and Alex Scheidt, CRA, P.App, Bcomm. David worked alongside Howard for 5 years prior to becoming owner and president of Fortier Mattila Appraisals Inc. in 2013. Together, our team carries forward 55 years of local regional knowledge while incorporating modern market analytics, mapping, and valuation tools.

Why Clients Choose Us

1. We Listen: Each client, situation, and property is unique. When providing a quote, we carefully ensure we understand the client, the appraisal problem, the property, the deadline, intended users, and potential conflicts of interest so we can deliver the best possible solution.

2. We Are Fair: We work hard to arrive at fair, well-reasoned conclusions. Because we do not sell or list real estate, we have zero financial interest in property sale prices—our sole focus is unbiased market accuracy.

3. We Pride Ourselves on Quality: We take pride in delivering highly supported valuations backed by continuous market evidence. Our reports walk the reader step-by-step through comparable sales, visual charts, maps, and clear calculations so every conclusion is completely transparent.

4. We Put Our Name On It: When a report is signed at Fortier Mattila Appraisals Inc., we put both the Fortier and Mattila family names on the line. We feel you are only as good as your name, and we are proud to stake our reputations on the work we provide.
